The Deshaun Watson sweepstakes officially kicked off on Friday afternoon after a grand jury decided not to indict him on criminal charges.
Without a criminal case hanging over his head, several teams have already showed interest in the star quarterback. According to multiple reports, the Carolina Panthers plan to make an “aggressive” offer for Watson in the coming days.
However, the Panthers aren’t the only team involved. According to a new report from NFL insider Aaron Wilson, the Cleveland Browns have “done their homework” on Watson. Wilson named the Browns as a “wildcard” to land the Texans quarterback.
“Cleveland Browns have done a lot of work on Deshaun Watson lately and are now regarded as a wild-card entry into this expanding trade market, per a league source,” Wilson said.

Late Friday night, ESPN analyst Kimberley Martin said five teams showed interest in Watson. Apart from the Browns and Panthers, she said the New Orleans Saints, Pittsburgh Steelers and Seattle Seahawks also expressed interest.
She also noted the Philadelphia Eagles expressed interest at first, but have backed off.
“The teams I’ve been told that have been interested in Deshaun Watson for a while — and/or were closely monitoring today’s grand jury outcome: CAR NO CLE SEA PIT,” she said. “PHI had expressed interest, but seems to have cooled of late.”
