After being added to the injury report late in the week, New York Jets wide receiver Keelan Cole will miss this afternoon’s season opener.
Cole was listed as questionable on Friday with a knee injury. When the Jets released their inactive list for today’s game against the Carolina Panthers, the fifth-year veteran was on it.
Cole is one of two New York wide receivers sitting out today. Reliable slot man Jamison Crowder remains on the Reserve/COVID-19 list.

In four seasons with the Jacksonville Jaguars, Cole caught 159 passes for 2,242 yards and 12 touchdowns. He signed a one-year contract with the Jets back in March.
Today, rookie quarterback Zach Wilson, the No. 2 overall pick, will have to work with a receiving corps that still includes 2020 second-rounder Denzel Mims, free agent signing Corey Davis, this year’s second-round pick Elijah Moore, Braxton Berrios and Jeff Smith.
The Jets and Panthers will kick off at 1 p.m. ET.
